The Scottish Murder

Two killings, 500 miles apart, seem unconnected. A girl’s body is discovered in a doorway in London, and another body is found in Dundee, Scotland. When the Scottish body mysteriously vanishes from the mortuary, Police Scotland washes their hands of the investigation. Given that the murdered girl in Scotland had recently traveled from London, DCI Steve Burt is assigned both cases.

As Steve and his team delve deeper, they must battle political greed, a ruthless killer, and major corruption. They unearth a devious plan that aims to give the UK complete world domination and make a government minister extraordinarily rich. To protect his expected wealth, the minister will eliminate anyone who gets in his way. Steve and his team face a succession of seemingly unrelated murders before the two cases finally converge.

John Reid was born in Dundee, Scotland and, after serving in the British Army, embarked upon a career working in several different fields. He finally retired after being Managing Director of a large international data business. John now works full-time as a writer. He divides his time between Scotland and Portugal and enjoys a game of golf when not writing.

His first book, The Forgotten Gun, was published in 2021. Since then, John has become a prolific writer with eight books in the DCI Steve Burt murder mystery series already published. He is now working on a new trilogy detailing different and new characters centred around a detective sergeant based in Dundee, Scotland.
