‘A Career Carol’ shortlisted for Best Short Business Book Award

Popular Career title, A Career Carol was shortlisted for the Best Short Business Book at The Business Book Awards last week. The shortlist was revealed on Wednesday, 15th May 2024 where over 100 books from nearly 140 business leaders were revealed. Authors Helmut Schuster and David Oxley were amongst the 100 finalists for the prestigious awards.

The Business Books Awards 2024 are an annual celebration of authors who have shared their experience and industry insights in a published book. In partnership with Pathway Group, the award show work on promoting books that help to promote leadership, change and sustainable business practices.

A Career Carol takes a creative approach to storytelling by taking the reader on a journey through time. Following main character Shey Sinope as he navigates the digital and analogue eras to obtain a successful 30–40-year career, the book offers a mix of real stories, fictional characters and anecdotes keeping readers entertained throughout each page.

The book was written by long time collaborators and work colleagues, Helmut Schuster and David Oxley. It is their shared outlook that has bound them together as authors. They are optimistic futurists, advocates for next-generation talent, pioneers of new approaches to work, enthusiasts for new technology adoption, and crusaders against entrenched thinking. With a whimsical eye and deep belief in humanity's strength to prevail against the absurdity of aspects of modern society, they are committed to presenting helpful business and leadership concepts for the next generation. Dr Helmut Schuster is a dual Austrian/British citizen who lives in London, UK. He is the former Group HR Director of BP PLC. Helmut is currently Chairman of the Board of Ivoclar Vivadent AG, an active entrepreneur, investor, and frequent contributor to leadership and AFS Intercultural programs.
