It is the first of a trio of children’s reads by Margaret. The theme of this book, The Curious Cat, introduces the characters of Francine, Mackintosh and Victor where Francine sets out to deliver Scarlet Squirrel’s birthday cake but the cake falls down. He begins to cry and there comes Mackintosh Mole who wants to help. Book follows a series of thrilling mishaps, adventure and comedy to save Scarlet’s party from disaster. Margaret Woods is a teacher and studied classics. The Curious Cake is her first published book, though the characters have been in her imagination for a long time.
