Caring for Cancer, the Real Journey is a guidebook for people who find themselves in a role of a caregiver, a spouse, a friend, a close relative, or a medical assistant to any cancer patient. Joanne married her best friend for the last 12 years in 2008. Her husband got diagnosed with stage 4 Gastroesophageal Cancer in 2018 and passed away in 2019. Joanne dealt with this miserable and daunting situation with a renewed zest for life with her stoicism and tenacity. In this book, she shares an inspiring story of her actual day-to-day experiences, events and sentiments of how she would force herself to emerge from depths of despair towards a hopeful mindset and take care of her spouse during that one year. It’s a must-read for people who are in any close relationship with a cancer patient.
Joanne Goodwin-Worton was born in Northumberland in 1977. She has two grown-up sons, Lewis and Oliver, from her late husband. She lived in Staffordshire for most of her life. The news of Late stage 4 Cancer diagnosis of her husband in 2018 was a catastrophe. She wrote honest accounts of their daily life afterwards for guiding other people who find themselves in a similar situation.
