Traveller’s Club (106 Pall Mall, London, SW1Y 5EP) invited Michael Codner for a detailed talk about his novel, George and the Briton, on Monday, 18^th July 2022, at 7:00 PM. The talk highlights various aspects of the storyline and how Codner came up with those accounts.

George and the Briton is a story that initiates in Antioch, Syria, and concludes in Glastonbury, England. The tome is based on the accounts from Mark’s diary, which records the daily operations of the Tribune Constantine and George, a soldier of the Roman Empire Army. The story starts with Mark’s deployment in Syria as an informer on the situation of Britain to Diocletian, the Roman Emperor. On his venture, Mark, a former British Sailor, meets Constantine, who introduces him to George. Considering his eloquence with the Latin language, George appoints him as his clerk. His job was to record daily operations of the Roman Army supervised by George. Whilst Roman Empire was reattaining its long-lost glory under the Diocletian Rule, some aversions caused misfortune. Michael Codner spent his life in Singapore, Germany and Hongkong. He has studied Philosophy and Psychology at Brasenose College of Oxford. Currently, he is a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. Formerly, Codner served as a navy seaman officer and a professor at the US Naval War College, Rhode Island.
